Update (18 Jan 2020): The website Fix My Street report that repairs are going to be made. Note repairs and not a long term fix.
I added a request on Fix My Street for a road repair, and I have received an email stating that: This report has been assessed and a job for repair has been raised. We will contact you again when a further update is available.
Furthermore, I wrote to Cllr Maughan, and I received a reply simply stating that there is no money for repairs and the road is not scheduled for repair in this financial year.
Cllr Maughan reported the following: Substantial repairs to Doddington/Clensey Lane has not made the 2020/21 budget. Funding constraints mean the Council has a huge backlog of repairs county-wide, estimated at £300m, with a maintenance budget of circa £30m. He also mentioned roads such as these could take years to fix. Personally, this is not acceptable and the budget needs revisiting.
Unfortunately, the end result of all this cost saving is a road that is extremely dangerous to users such as cyclists, motorcycles and cars. I would highly recommend a weight restriction in the meantime, before someone is injured.
